The lighthouse is located on the western clif of Madeira Island, the Ponta do Pargo.
It was put into service on June 5, 1922. Its optics are remarkable because it is of the 2°order or 700 mm of focal length.
Like many Portuguese lighthouses, it is visitable.
Do not miss to see the small museum where are exposed old optics and panels explaining the history of the marking of the island.
The lighthouse history is here.

I would like to thank the keeper who was available and who assisted us during the visit.
We had a lot of exchanges.
